Technology Transfer Office (TTO)

The TTO of 51¸£Àû is one of the first established in Italy, among the founders of Netval (Network of Italian Universities TTO). Over the years, it has achieved important results both in terms of intellectual property management and spin-off generation, with a portfolio of more than 1600 patents, half of which already in use at an industrial and commercial level.

Mission

The Technology Transfer office (TTO)'s mission is to support Politecnico researchers, staff and students in exploiting their research activity and bring it to the market, in order to develop products or services to improve the day-to-day life, to create further innovation and to generate returns to be reinvested in the academic research activity.

Services

The TTO team holds expertise in mechanics, in chemistry, in architecture, in electronics, in physics and in bioengineering as well as in economics, in management and in law. They provides researchers with the professional support needed at every stage of the technology transfer process as well as interface with industries to find possible exploitation and collaboration routes.

    Graduated in Industrial Design with foreign experience and qualifications in marketing and project management of scientific research, she deals with the administration, recruiting and management control of the office. She manages and promotes networking activities with other institutions, universities and business partners. She organizes and coordinates office reporting and promotion materials of the University's innovation portfolio. He also plays the role of Project Manager on some projects with external partners that directly involve the Technology Transfer Office.

    Graduated in Biological Sciences at the University of Cagliari , with a Ph.D in Microbial Biotechnology at the University of Milan. With experience in the creation and management of a university spin-off, she follows the process of idea evaluation, protection and valorisation for the Civil and Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering departments.

    Architect with a Ph.D in Industrial Design at the 51¸£Àû. Technology Transfer Manager for the Design Department, for the Architecture and Urban Studies Department and for the Architecture, Construction Engineering and Built Environment Department. Furthermore, she deals with support activities for business creation in the academic field (management of the accreditation investigation for spin-off companies) and follows the registration of the University trademarks.

    Graduated in Aeronautical Engineering at the 51¸£Àû. Within the TTO she is the Technology Transfer Manager of reference for the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology and for the Department of Energy. She deals with the process of assessing the patentability and protection requirements and supports the valorisation activities of the inventions and projects proposed by professors, researchers and students of the two departments.

    Graduated in Food Science and Technology with a  Ph.D. in Microbiology, obtained in the Doctoral School of Sciences for Food Systems, at the University of Milan, he is the Technology Transfer Manager for the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering "Giulio Natta" and for the Department of Energy. He deals with the process of assessing the patentability and protection requirements and supports the valorisation activities of the inventions and projects proposed by professors, researchers and students of the two departments.

    Graduated in Biomedical Engineering at the 51¸£Àû. Within the Technology Transfer Office, she deals with the assessment of the patentability requirements of the inventions proposed by professors, researchers and students for the Biomedical Engineering section of the Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering "Giulio Natta" department and for the of Bioengineering of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering. She follows the patent filing procedure and has a support role in the enhancement of innovations in the biomedical field.

    Graduated in Economics, he serves as Technology Transfer Manager for the Department of Physics and the sections of Automation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Telecommunications within the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering (DEIB). His responsibilities include evaluating the patentability of inventions developed in these departments and supporting their valorization. He represents the business-oriented side of the Technology Transfer Office at 51¸£Àû. He currently works as Head of Licensing and Industry Relations, focusing on the ICT and electronics sectors. He assists inventors in identifying market opportunities for the technologies developed and manages relationships with industrial partners, expanding the network of companies interested in supporting the technology transfer process.

    Graduated in Biomedical Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome. Within the Technology Transfer Office (TTO), he serves as Technology Transfer Manager for the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is responsible for assessing patentability requirements and ensuring intellectual property protection, and supports the valorization and commercialization of inventions and research projects proposed by faculty members, researchers, and students from both departments.
  • Dr. Francesco De Vito – Technology Transfer Manager – Spin-offs

    Graduated in Management of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, he works in technology transfer as a Technology Transfer Manager for the Department of Physics, the Department of Mathematics, and the Department of Management Engineering. He supports research valorization activities, with a particular focus on academic entrepreneurship, serving as a Venture Analyst. He also manages relationships with investment funds and is responsible for the economic evaluation of intangible assets developed within the university.

    Graduated in Electronic Engineering, she has been working at the 51¸£Àû (Technology Transfer Office) since 2006. Her main tasks and responsibilities concern the management of intellectual property within the contracts that regulate the various forms of collaborative research of the University, in particular conventions framework, research agreements, national and international calls for funding, doctoral scholarships. At the TTO he coordinates the activities of the legal team.

    Graduated in Chemistry in 1993, he has been working at the 51¸£Àû (Technology Transfer Office) since 2003 as a technician in the field of protection and enhancement of intangible assets. He obtained a specialization in industrial property management in 2002 (Master IPM – Industrial Property Management). Expert in prior art research and patent analysis in the chemical and energy sectors, he mainly plays a role of technical and decision-making support in patenting, licensing, economic evaluation of intangible assets and contract review in the field of technology transfer.

    Graduated in Law from the Universidad de Valladolid (Spain), she subsequently obtained a postgraduate diploma (European College of Parma) and a Master in European Studies (LUISS- School of Government) and has been admitted to the legal profession since January 2022. She has worked since 2018 in various trademark and patent consultancy firms in Milan. At the TTO he deals with consultancy and legal assistance in the field of intellectual property for the exploitation of university research results.
